Trainer Michael O'Brien has warned punters not to leave his Forget The Past out of calculations for this season's Ryanair Chase at Cheltenham.

The nine-year-old, who finished third in last season's Gold Cup, disappointed last time out in the Irish version of the Hennessy at Leopardstown in heavy ground, having won his first two outings of the campaign.

"He disappointed last time and he doesn't like that heavy ground - he never did go in it - although he has won a couple of races on it but they were egg-and-spoon races," said the County Kildare handler.

"We knew he didn't handle it well but we were still disappointed with the way he travelled through the race.

"He looks great; he's in good form now so we'll just put it down to a one-off.

"The plan for him is still the Ryanair as the Gold Cup looks as if it is going to be a better race this year.

"We'll discuss the Grand National after he runs at Cheltenham but he would get the good ground that he requires and there is a month in between this year," O'Brien told At The Races.

The Ryanair Chase is turning in to one of the most competitive races of the Festival with Forget The Past available to back at 15 for the 2m 5f contest.

Saturday's Ascot winner Monet's Garden heads the betting at 4.1, ahead of My Way De Solzen at 5.5 and Taranis on 9.2.
