Timeform Radio pundit Rory Delargy will be trying to keep his powder dry until the last race at Cheltenham today, when one of his chasers to follow for the year is expected to justify that opinion.
The horse in question is Jonjo O'Neill's Isn't That Lucky who was a gallant second in last year's Jewson on this day and can go one better under the much maligned Sam Waley-Cohen in the Fulke Walwyn/Kim Muir at 16:40. He's had breathing problems since last season which have curtailed his development but hopefully those will be be sorted and a return to good ground is a big plus, while the step up in trip has looked in order for a while. The selection has always been an excellent jumper and I'd be disappointed if he isn't ultimately better than a 130 rated animal, especially when you consider that his Jewson conqueror Chapoturgeon is rated 152. The current price of 15.5 is more than fair.
Our next best comes in the opener at 13:30 where Hey Big Spender can show that he is a Ryanair horse in the making by winning the Jewson. He took the valuable Timeform Novices' Handicap here in January in most taking fashion, jumping with rare fluency and winning with more to spare than the distances suggest. Colin Tizzard has had some decent horses including Joe Lively but I believe that Hey Big Spender will prove to be the best he's ever trained.
