Surprise defeat sees drift in Cheltenham Festival betting

In the immediate aftermath of his Connaught Chase defeat at Cheltenham this afternoon, Master Minded touched [3.2] on Betfair for the Champion Chase in March.

However, the Paul Nicholls-trained six-year-old has now stabilised at just over the [2.9] mark on the exchange.

Well Chief, the winner today in receipt of 10lb from third-placed Master Minded, is the [8.4] third-favourite on Betfair for Festival glory having traded at [40.0].

Yesterday's Paddy Power Gold winner Tranquil Sea is a [30.0] chance.
