Paul Nicholls' chasers, Kauto Star and Denman, continue to dominate the Betfair market for the 2008 Gold Cup but one horse enhanced his chance with a smooth victory at Aintree this week.
While Kauto Star stayed in his box, the horse which followed him home in this year's Gold Cup, Exotic Dancer, romped to a career-best 13-length success in the Betfair Bowl.
Such has been his improvement this season - a climb of 30lb up the official ratings - that he can now be backed at just 12 for the Cheltenham showpiece next year.
Monet's Garden (34) has not made such a dent in the market because of stamina doubts, but the way he gained his revenge on Ryanair Chase conqueror Taranis at Aintree this week suggests that on good ground he might be serious Gold Cup option on good or fast ground.
Monet's Garden can also be backed at 21 if he takes the two-mile route in the Champion Chase.
