Walthamstow takes centre stage on Betfair's weekly greyhound show

Owners and trainers talk to Mark Sullivan with the east London track - in one way or another - featuring in most conversations

Leading owner Ricky Holloway urged all greyhound fans to sign the petition against the impending closure of Walthamstow on the Downing Street website during an interview on Tuesday's Dog Show on Betfair Radio 2.

Holloway spoke with passion about the closure of the stadium, in particular the way it has been handled by the Chandler family and also the response from the British Greyhound Racing Board.

Also on Tuesday's show, Stacey Baggs thanked everyone that made the benefit meeting for Gary, her father, at Walthamstow on Saturday such a success. Early estimates suggest £70,000 was raised towards the cost of caring for Gary who has cancer.

Chris Lund gave us the low down on plans for super-stayer Flying Winner, already the winner of the Regency and TV Trophy this year.

The most immediate engagement for Flying Winner is over the marathon trip at Dundalk on Saturday as part of the International fixture. With that in mind Michael Dempsey, the Dundalk racing manager, came on the show to put us in the picture in respect of the meeting at the weekend.

Seamus Cahill came on with news of Betfair Star, our dog who finished third at Walthamstow on Tuesday evening, and Len Ponder who is hoping for success with Lenson Express and Lenson Joker at Sunderland on Thursday also spoke of his current good run as an owner.
