Newline Mentor (T1), the most experienced runner in the line-up, can run a big race in Walthamstow's A7 contest run over 475 metres, due underway at
Kennoway Archie (T2), who takes time to reach full stride, comes into the race in rude health following a gutsy A8 success the other day. Graham Sharp's fast finisher, a former winning Open racer at
The Stocktaker (T3), a lightly-campaigned individual, tends to find lots of bother in his races. With Derek Hawkes' hound currently on a 13-race losing streak, layers will probably be licking their lips at the prospect of opposing the unreliable son of Darcys Boy.
Wonting (T4), who has been virtually ignored by backers recently, looks to have plenty to do. Gary Baggs' bitch, who is still without a win at this level after nine bites of the cherry, cannot be recommended with confidence.
Pennys Swallow (T5), a promising sort who seems to leave her trapping boots at home, will need plenty of luck in-running. Paul Garland's ex-Irish import, who boasts just one win from six starts at this grade, will need to avoid the potential traffic hazards.
Buyer Beware (T6), a former Open racer at Youghal who went on to become an A6 grader at best at Crayford, cannot be discarded. Graham Sharp's hound, the winner of just three races from 23 lifetime starts, is expected to be doing sterling work in the final quarter.
Cassie for cash in S1
Cassie (T5), a lightly-raced sort who looks open to improvement, is expected to play a leading role in the S1 contest run over 640 metres and due underway at
Placid Jill (T1), a pup with potential, looks to hold a decent position next to the fence. Mick Puzey's bitch, who looked in good order when making all the running to land an S2 event earlier this month, was only narrowly denied a second win on her S1 debut last time. With further improvement on the cards, the January 05 bitch, who needs to go quicker on the calculated clock, should be in the mix.
Bell Imperial (T2), the winner of only three races from 31 lifetime starts, looked stronger than ever when overcoming an early bump to land her first race since September the other day. However, with Gary Baggs' stayer unlikely to run two races alike, a lay should prove to be a popular choice.
Be Wise Lady (T3), who recorded her best time for a while when justifying strong support in an S2 event last week, appears to need to step up on that display. Seamus Cahill's bitch, who boasts only one success at this level from six attempts, will have to avoid any trouble to figure in the latter stages.
Centaur Iris (T4), the winner of an Open race here in October, looks well up to tackling the task ahead. Blessed with plenty of opening speed, Mark Wallis' bitch should be fighting for early supremacy.
Cassie (T5), a lightly-campaigned individual, looks an interesting prospect. Mick Puzey's youngster, who was the impressive winner of an S2 earlier in the month, lost no caste in defeat on her debut at the top level last time. With further improvement on the cards, the January 05 whelp should make them all go.
Droopys Puma (T6), whose legs do not appear as strong as they were, is finding life tough nowadays. With Gary Baggs' charge having tasted defeat in each of his last 10 outings at this level, a lay looks the sensible option.
Concluding S3 looks wide open
With all six contenders taking a drop in class, this S3 contest, run over 640 metres and due underway at
Craigdales Ruby (T1), who was heavily backed prior to two of her last three outings, failed to deliver the goods on each occasion. However, John Coleman's old timer, a former Open racer, who has her first start at this level since August 2005, has to be considered from an ideal pitch.
Drominboy Iseki (T2), the winner of four races from her last eight starts including an Open event, does not look out of place in an event of this nature. Mark Wallis' likeable individual, who has the pace to lead at the turn, is expected to command her fair share of support.
Trusted (T3), who has been tried over eight bends without success recently, has won only one race from her last 16 starts. Derek Hawkes' inconsistent challenger, who falls asleep as the lid fly open, appears to face a stiff task.
Silky Rose (T4), who has been struggling to leave the gates on level terms, can ill-afford any mistakes in this company. With John Sherry's bitch looking held by Craigdales Ruby (T1) on their recent running, the March 04 whelp will need to be at her best to strike.
Reddmac One (T5), who appears to have something to find on recent form, chases her first win in eight races. With Gary Baggs' in-and-out performer needing plenty of time to find her feet, the daughter of Droopys Vieri faces a tough test.
