Despite suffering a scare in Tuesday's first-round heats of the Ladbrokes.com Arc at Walthamstow, Jazz Hurricane, appears to have come through her ordeal well and handler Derek Knight remains positive about his charges' chances.
The Hurricane is the 4.8 favourite to land the trophy, but suffered a major scare on what was a night of surprises at the east-London track.
She had it all to do when failing to get a run to the first bend in heat eight but showed plenty of grit and determination to battle back from the mid-way point and stayed on well to move into the next round with a third-place finish.
Knight was absent on the evening as he was attending to matters at Wimbledon, but reflecting on the outcome the Hove handler was upbeat.
"Jazz Hurricane has come out of her race well, but she usually does and we are happy to be in the second round," he told the Racing Post. "She is really performing at the top of her game and the objective is to keep on qualifying."
However, he did voice one concern about her prospects for the latter rounds saying: "Our main concern is that she could drop into season at anytime. Her last seasonal rest was about nine months back so we are just praying that she doesn't until the completion of this event."
