"Tynwald Claudius has consistently broken well from the traps – whether in trap one, two, three or four and I feel unless he has a freakish poor break from the traps, he should win again soon."
The Hawk signs off with two hounds to keep your eyes on in the coming weeks...
Tynwald Claudius is at the top of his game at present and there's every chance the September 2006 whelp can continue his good recent run at Nottingham in the next few weeks.
Having won three of his last four A1s at Colwick Park (in total he's won eight from 35 career starts), Tynwald Claudius would be a natural to participate in Open races around the Midlands area and beyond - but he just doesn't seem to cut the mustard in that grade. He has now had five runs in open class and each time he has failed to win. However, if kept to top grade at Nottingham in the short term future I am sure he can keep winning.
His recent 4.5 lengths victory was due in some part to an electric 5.14 sectional - but he has consistently broken well from the traps - whether in trap one, two, three or four and I feel unless he has a freakish poor break from the traps, he should win again soon.

Over at Sheffield, Turbo Mick looks sure to win his first race soon. The October 2007 daughter of Hades Rocket is invariably very slowly away from the boxes so will always need luck in running and a clear path - especially as she runs tight on the rails.
But as regular readers of this column know, I particularly like these sort of dogs as graders invariably give them a chance with fast breaking hounds drawn next to them that swing middle to wide - and Betfair prices are usually rather generous on these sort of dogs . It then just becomes a question of spotting when the right opportunity comes along.
Not surprisingly Turbo Mick posted her best overall time when clocking her best sectional of 4.66 - but usually she stops the watch at around 4.74 at the line first time around.
If in a race packed full of early speed - and in one that seems to possess dogs that are not keen to hug the rails - I think we may see Turbo Mick lose her maiden tag soon. Make no mistake she will be better over six bends, but she is capable of winning over the four given the right race make up - and I feel the grader may offer her that chance soon, as she is now 0-8! She should grab any chance that comes her way in the next couple of weeks, especially if dropped into A7.
