Side Leg impresses at Wimbledon
Side Leg impresses at Wimbledon
Local trainer Philip Rees is dreaming of a first Derby success after Side Leg produced a magnificent performance in his first-round heat at Wimbledon on Saturday night.
The heavily-backed son of Spiral Nikita forced his way through bumping on the run to the corner before displaying awesome middle pace in the back section to move into contention.
Taking up the running at the third corner, the likeable individual went on to record a cosy one-and-a-quarter length success in a respectable 28.71sec.
The winner of three races from four outings over the 480m trip, Side Leg looks the type that could go a long way in his quest for Derby glory, and he looks worth keeping on the right side.
The 'Leg' has developed into a real springer in Betfair's ante-post market and the former grader can now be backed at 34 to small stakes after being taken at a high of 390 prior to the start of the premier Classic.
