The Hawk runs his beady eye over a bitch with an abundance of speed and an eye catching fellow of admirable spirit...
Risky Annie looks a bitch worth following at Oxford in the next few weeks. She has an abundance of early speed and given a good start she will be able to secure the rails position quite easily in this current A8 grade. She sticks close to the rails and last time out, despite slightly missing the break managed secure first run on the field by jetting up the inside of the blue jacketed dog on the run in. They only started to get to her in the home straight when she was caught by two strong finishing sorts. She has won 12 of her 75 A8 races at the track and is eight from 38 in the red jacket. She has won an A9 in 27.58, and her time in A8 is not far away. I would especially like to back her when faced against two 'win from the front' type of hounds in trap two or three.
Risky Annie Oxford A8
Under the Limit really took the eye at Belle Vue earlier this week. Although just a lowly A8 contest, our fellow showed an admirable spirit to come back having been headed, not once, but twice. He got back up right on the line, and what made this such an eye-catching run is that Under The Limit usually gets left behind once headed. He was significantly well backed in the late course betting skirmishes - having opened as the [3.75] second favourite he was returned the [2.75] market leader. He made his usual good start but then was caught for toe approaching the final two bends. Trap two and trap one hounds both took his ground in the straight - but he switched and came back very strongly to nab them both late on. If the Belle Vue racing manager is not too harsh he may follow up in A7. But as he was 0-8 in A8 before this, and had won just 3 of 39 races prior to this win, I reckon there's a chance we may get to back Under the Limit in another A8 in the coming days.
