South Yorkshire-based Barrie Draper's dreams of a second Gymcrack success may well be set to become reality next week, with his little star Farloe Hurricane set to start a warm order for next Tuesday's live-on-Sky final of the 480m showpiece at Hall Green.
The master of Poultry Farm sent out Louis Saha to win the prestigious competition in 2002, and Hurricane confirmed his well being when comfortably accounting for kennelmate Boherna On Air by two-and-a-quarter lengths in his semi-final heat.
With the likeable son of Larkhill Jo having recorded a fastest-of-the-event 28.47 on that occasion, it would come as no surprise to envisage the fast-up youngster being the subject of several tasty bets prior to the final.
Hurricane boasts an awesome career record, having notched up seven wins from nine starts to date, and will make the journey to the York Road circuit chasing a sixth success off the reel.
The versatile front-runner should not be inconvenienced by the coffin box draw in four, having managed to strike from lanes two, three, four and five in the past, and should win granted a clear run at the bunny.
