Hurricane hits Hall Green

Farloe Hurricane cemented his position at the head of the Gymcrack market on Friday.

Securing a decent enough break from the boxes, the Aug 05 whelp was able to career away from his field in style and comfortably held the Charlie Lister trained, Affleck Elite at bay.

This completed a successful morning for the Sheffield based handler Draper as Boherna On Air had earlier disposed of his five rivals with the minimum of fuss.

Bower Turbo went to the traps at a short price in heat five after the stewards ordered the race be re-run, after the hare had been stopped on the grounds of safety.

Magna Danger, who had been knocked over in the initial race, and the Graham Hutt trained The Dude, were withdrawn and with the rest of the runners reconvened some two hours later, the Reading raider posted a highly impressive 28.90 under the circumstances.

Elsewhere on the card, the Dean Childs-trained Droopys Robster eclipsed the well-supported Faughan Dan in the third of the heats.

Barnfield Billy continued to advertise the talents of fledgling handler Sam Poots in taking the second of the heats. This served as adequate compensation for Poots as his Barnfield Leo had been narrowly beaten by the Lance Burford's Kingsmill Sparky in the first heat of the day.

The second round of the competition is due for Tuesday 3 July.
