"Guinness Time's much improved Romford form last week makes him a must bet, especially with a Harlow A5 grader on his inside! Take [1.8] or better."
For Open race fans, Monday evenings are a must on BAGS with today's Puppy Classic semi-final card at Nottingham. Supporting competitions for the Champion Stakes at Romford help make this one especially appealing, writes Darrell Williams.
Without doubt the best bet of the night is Guinness Time (6:56 Romford) who could hardly be in better shape after his emphatic win over the CD in a similar puppy event last Friday.
Seamus Cahill's charge was a finalist in the Produce Stakes at Swindon, where he got no luck in running, before an early exit, again via a rough ride, in the Puppy Derby at Wimbledon. But it's his much improved Romford form last week, compared to his earlier experience at the venue, that makes him a must bet, especially with a Harlow A5 grader on his inside! Take [1.8] or better.
Charlie Lister has a firm grip on the Puppy Classic, but it's Farloe Lee that I like (9:07 Nottingham). Unbeaten in three races over the CD, and boosting a 5/6 record overall at the Colwick circuit, it's hard not to see him soon in charge and again [1.8] or bigger would make him a bet.
Lister's other hotpot Farloe Razl should realistically win the 8:52 heat, but it's worth noting that all four of his wins at the track have come when clad in stripes, and with fast starting Loyal Rebel in the six box this time, plus unexposed kennelmate Jordansoilutions also in the line-up, I'd rather lay than back, at [2.5] or better.
