Betfair Star returns for a division of the Nevill Road Maiden over 285 metres. It will be the first race for our dog since he sustained a shoulder injury at Walthamstow on July 8.
The two-year-old son of Australian sire Head Bound completed his rehabilitation at the weekend with an impressive 16.56sec length-and-a-quarter victory over Sky Bound in a two-dog trial over Thursday's course and distance.
Trainer Seamus Cahill is optimistic about Betfair Star's future. He said: "It's time to move forward with him. The 285 metres is not his ideal trip and I wouldn't necessarily expect him to win on Thursday but I am hopeful of a good run."
Cahill, who joined Hove on the closure of Walthamstow last month, added: "His trial on Saturday was good but I wouldn't get too carried away. It would have probably been a better run had it been recorded a few years ago than now. The track is quicker these days and consequently the sprint times have improved a lot.
"Betfair Star is a nice dog with a good Irish card. He has had a setback but the injury has been treated properly and he is now physically fine. We won't be rushing him over the next few weeks but will be giving him every chance of showing what he is capable of."
On Thursday Betfair Star is drawn in trap three after taking a middle course in his two latest trials at Hove and he should make impact if obtaining a clear run around the opening couple of bends.
Betfair Star, who is a litter brother of Cahill-trained open racer Cool Cashin, has had three starts since joining us after posting an excellent 29.21sec over 5125 yards (480 metres) at County Tipperary track Thurles on May 2.
