"Baggie Babe has a solid record at this level, winning two of her last three top grade contests, and with recent sectionals of 5.05 and 5.06 seconds to her name its going to take an awful lot of effort by one of the others to lead her into the turn. If she does get away to one of her usually slick starts, and with any trouble behind a real bonus, victory could well be assured by the time she turns into the straight. Given her draw, I would be willing to take anything over [3.0]."
Ed Nicholson has gone through today's BAGS cards with a fine toothcomb, and has found a couple of top grade events at Nottingham tonight to get involved with:
Underdeinfluence has strong claims in the first race at Nottingham tonight at 6.28pm. The December 2007 dog has yet to win in top grade at Colwick Park since arriving on these shores, but he has won his last two A2 contests and has recently been contesting 480m Open races at the track, winning one two outings ago in 29.58 seconds.
It's true to say that he does struggle to get home in this grade over those last 20 metres, but there's every chance he can lead his rivals a merry dance into the home straight - and I can see him staying on better tonight to secure his first A1 at the track.
All six dogs have a chance on one piece of form or another - but as Undertheinfluence in the orange jacket is sure to lead, and given that there is nothing in the field with a scintillating strong finish, I expect him to stay there at the end of the race. He should not be missed at anything over [3.5].
The second of three A1 events takes place two races later at 7.01pm and there's every chance that Baggie Babe in trap six can make every single yard of this 500 metres.
The October 2006 bitch has a solid record at this level, winning two of her last three top grade contests, and with recent sectionals of 5.05 and 5.06 seconds to her name its going to take an awful lot of effort by one of the others to lead her into the turn. If she does get away to one of her usually slick starts, and with any trouble behind a real bonus, victory could well be assured by the time she turns into the straight. Given her draw, I would be willing to take anything over [3.0].
