Champion bids for a first

Belle Vue's rejuvenated 2006 Northern Flat championship winner, Giddy Kipper, will bid for a first ever career hat-trick at the Manchester track on Thursday evening.

The April 2004 whelp, a winner of 15 races, has turned the clock back in style with an Open race double and will look to make it three wins on the bounce at the top level in Belle Vue's 20:25.

The son of Larkhill Jo's recent course and distance victories have come from a plum T1 draw and the veteran will need to overcome a more hazardous route from T3, but his fine current form and strong-running ability means he may be difficult to deny around the six bends.

Giddy Kipper sprung a 25/1 shock when landing the Northern Flat Championship last July over the standard 470 metres which represents a career highlight for June McCombe's dog. However, victory this week would go someway to matching that achievement although punters will not be rewarded with such generous odds.
