Clock watchers were excited by Kilkenny Cagney's victory at Belle Vue on Saturday, but punters must now decide if the son of Droopys Kewell is capable of pulling off a two-grade hike.
The Joy Andrews-trained hound has had his critics in the past but roared back to form with a scintillating seven-length success in an A6 contest, clocking a personal best of 28.43 in the process.
Kilkenny Cagney was made favourite and gave his supporters few anxious moments, after seeing early daylight, to dominate the race.
The May 2004 whelp had previously been expensive to follow with just one other victory from 17 Belle Vue runnings but will return to the Manchester track in an A4 contest on Thursday when there is bound to be plenty of interest in his performance.
