The Hawk has been eyeing the action from the BAGS scene and has two more hounds worth backing.
Last week The Hawk was very strong on the chances on the once raced Brayview Jo winning, saying: "he's a dog capable of winning in higher grade and he simply must be backed in A7 next time". Brayview Jo won his A7 next time at evens on Friday.
Highview Leader has only raced six times but he has already won on three occasions and has consequently gone from A7 to A3. However, I don't think the improvement has stopped. Two runs back the July 2006 whelp won an A4 at an SP of [2.25], but last time he still finished a very respectable third in an A3 and on that showing he can win at this grade. Apart from being crowded at the second bend I reckon he would have finished even closer than he eventually did (beaten 2.75 lengths). He was drawn in the coffin box, and although he enjoys the black jacket at this higher grade it may just be that he needs the orange jacket.

Poppy Rose was running in A4 class at Crayford last November and despite winning an A7 recently he now finds himself in A6 - a grade he is more than capable of winning in. He isn't really suited to the tight turns of the Kent track - he was originally plying his trade at Sittingbourne - but when he does get an early start, which he is more than capable of, and a clear run, he can record a very fast time. His 24.08 seconds three runs back proves he is a fast hound on the bunny and he has done several 24.00's as well.
When drawn in the stripes he is always worth a second look, especially when he is outside a slow starting trap five runner, and given this scenario he is worth backing at any time in A6 or A7. But for the purpose of this column, the way he ran last time suggests he is worth backing in each of his next three runs (stop at a winner).
