Romford's second race, an A8 contest run over 400 metres and due underway at 19:46, should see both Wild Petal (T5) and Darn Good (T6) battle it out for top spot in a weak renewal.

Angels Boy (T1) has been defeated in his last four outings at the level but cannot be ignored. With Peter Payne's inconsistent hound having clocked a much improved 25.35 when fading on the run-in to finish third the other day, the February 03 veteran may just be able to improve on that effort with another peppy start.

Selsey Dotty (T2) makes her debut and looks an intriguing prospect. Paul Young's July 05 whelp, who displayed plenty of sparkle on her latest trial, would not need to be anything out of the ordinary to figure in the finish. Backers are advised to scan the pre-race market for positive vibes.

Chomba Womba (T3) boasts a similar profile to T4, with Jim Reynolds' youngster also set to have only her second spin around the London Road circuit. The July 05 whelp appears stronger than that rival in the early pace department and a touch faster on the calculated clock. A market move in her favour would not do her chances of landing the first prize any harm.

Spitfire Dan (T4) was heavily backed when defeated on his debut and should have learnt a good deal from that initial experience. With Jim Reynolds' pup needing to improve again on the clock, a watching brief may well be the best policy.

Go Wild Petal (T5) has been mistiming the break recently, but is capable of a sharp exit when in the right mood. Maxine Locke's daughter of Go Wild Teddy, who produced a scintillating 24.94 on the clock last month, would probably win with a reproduction of that effort.

Darn Good (T6) looks most likely to lead from the outside, but may struggle to retain the advantage. With Paul Young's bitch requiring improvement on the calculated clock, a lay may prove to be a sensible option.

Boo Boos Baby looks interesting debutant in A4

Boo Boos Baby (T4), who is set to run in the A4 contest run over 400 metres and due underway at 21:09, would not need to be anything out of the ordinary to make a winning debut.

Oscars Magic (T1) has his first outing for over a month and boasts the best form in the race at this level. With Maxine Locke's tough veteran well drawn next to the pegs, a solid run is anticipated.

Portmagee Master (T2) is a lightly raced ex-Irish greyhound, should be fighting for supremacy at the corner. With Martyn Wiley's progressive individual improving with every race, an all-the-way performance is not beyond the realms of possibility.

Be Prepared (T3) is lacking in the experience department, but will attempt to turn the corner in front. Dave Mullins' charge, who was nicely backed before finishing second on his debut, cannot be ruled out in a wide-open heat.

Boo Boos Baby (T4) boasts phenomenal early pace and should lead at the corner. In a race that may not take much winning, Maxine Locke's newcomer may prove up to the task.

Mullvester (T5) is evidently held in some regard by connections after a number of unsuccessful runs in Open company during the past few months. Dave Mullins' sluggish starter is worth monitoring in the pre-race skirmishes.

Airtech Rebel (T6) formerly an A1 hound, looks well treated on his best form. Although Paul Young's golden oldie is the slowest in the field to reach full stride, the November 03 whelp will be doing sterling work in the latter stages when most of his rivals may have cried enough.

Free kick for Gerrard?

Bonville Gerrard (T5), who has been flagged up on Betfair as a greyhound to follow on more than one occasion during the past month, bids to continue on the upgrade in the A1 contest run over 400 metres, due underway at 22:15.

Email Top Dog (T1) is the winner of two races from his last four starts, comes here in fine fettle. With Jim Reynolds' veteran looking set to lead next to the fence, the son of Fortune Mike cannot be ruled out with a clear passage.

Westdale Blue (T2) boasts a 50 per-cent winning strike-rate at the top level, enters the equation. Martyn Wiley's strong greyhound, who caught many clock watchers eyes when posting a fast 24.33, would very nearly win with a reproduction of that superb effort.

Honcho Away (T3) should struggle to lead in this company and cannot be recommended. Paul Young's veteran, who needs further nowadays, looks one for the layers.

Countrywideblues (T4) tends to leave the machine in his own time, may well be a few lengths behind the front-runners at the turn. With this in mind, we expect Martyn Wiley's hard-to-win-with hound to have too much to do at the business end.

Bonville Gerrard (T5) is the winner of four races from his last seven starts and is an admirably tough and genuine greyhound. Having tasted defeat in Open company at Coventry recently, Maxine Locke's likeable individual immediately bounced back to form when landing his first A1 success last time. A most progressive type, it would come as no surprise to see backers becoming involved.

Alrita Lisa (T6) is the sole wide seed and may not be able to exploit the decent draw, as a result of her distinct lack of initial pace. With Martyn Wiley's September 04 whelp currently on a seven-race losing run, layers will be looking for another of her trademark slow starts.
