Ardagh Dawn to see daylight in A8

A6 A7 A8 RSS / Editor / 26 February 2007 / Leave a comment

31.jpgArdagh Dawn (T4) is set to make his debut in the grade and can make his presence felt in Romford's opening A8 contest, run over 400 metres and due underway at 19:30.

Angels Boy (T1) boasts phenomenal early pace when the timing is right, but found the competition too hot in an A7 event the other day. With Peter Payne's old campaigner now dropped to a more suitable level, a bold show is expected from the inside.

Maydare Jo (T2) possesses more scope than the majority of his rivals after just 11 career outings and has his first race for more than a month. With fitness being an obvious worry for backers of Paul Young's pup, a watching brief is advised.

Your Point Is (T3), who was having her first race for three weeks when fading into third in a similar event, will need to have improved appreciably for the outing. With only two wins at this grade from 16 bites of the cherry, Dave Mullins' bitch is beginning to look exposed.

Ardagh Dawn (T4) is a veteran who is set for only his 13th career start and has evidently had his share of training problems. However, with Alison Ingram's snappy trapper taking a drop into the grade for the first time, the May 03 whelp is expected to command plenty of support.

Spitfire Dan (T5) has been heavily backed in two of his opening three races at the London Road circuit and is clearly held in some regard. Although Jim Reynolds' September 05 pup has some progress to find on the calculated clock, a bold show is anticipated.

Emmies Boy (T6) should enjoy plenty of space as the sole wide seed and proved to be a huge success for the layers when narrowly defeated at this level the other day. However, with Maggie Lucas' charge currently on a 14-race losing streak, layers will probably be licking their lips at the prospect of taking on the August 02 whelp.

Pace in abundance in A5

With two-thirds of the field looking strong in the early pace department, there is a thrilling race in store for the A5 contest, run over 400 metres and due underway at 20:35.

Blonde Teddy (T1) should get the better of Placid Jack (T2) on the rails early doors and is expected to display plenty of speed down the back stretch. Maxine Locke's well travelled individual, formerly a sprinter when based at Coventry, should be thereabouts.

Placid Jack (T2) has found plenty of initial firepower in his trials and looks one for the future. With Jim Reynolds' youngster already having dipped below the 25 seconds barrier, a nice debut is anticipated with a clear passage.

Baby Bucket (T3) is an ex-Irish import who has her first race in Britain, showed strong pace from the machine on her final trial. However, with Peter Payne's debutant needing to prove her wellbeing on the clock, layers may come out on top.

Questhouse Diva (T4) is admirably consistent winner of four races from her last seven starts and may still be open to further improvement. Although Dave Mullins' charge is expected to go off at inflated odds, the likeable bitch, who looks a near-certainty to lead, looks a most interesting prospect for backers.

Rusheen Mile (T5) is likely to be run off his feet in the early stages but is probably better than his recent form suggests. However, with Martyn Wiley's charge having won only one race from his last 11 outings, the son of Daves Mentor cannot be recommended with confidence.

Mystic Gypsy (T6) is capable of a sharp exit when in the right mood and faces her easiest task for some time. Highly tried in better company in recent weeks, the drop in class for Alison Ingram's bitch should ensure that she comes in for a good deal of support.

Commons Bale boasts right profile in S2

Commons Bale (T4), who effectively comes here on a four-timer in the grade, looks a most intriguing proposition for backers in the concluding S2 contest, run over 575 metres and due underway at 22:30.

Airtech Avit (T1) is an unreliable sort from the starting gates and looks set to be doing sterling work in the final quarter. With Paul Young's September 04 whelp boasting an admirable three wins at the grade from seven attempts, the son of Jamella Prince looks a threat.

You Did What (T2) landed an Open here recently and cannot be relied upon to run two races alike. With Paul Young's golden oldie needing to travel quicker on the calculated clock, backers are advised to act with caution.

Heroes Last Lass (T3) lacks experience in staying events and appears to have a mountain to climb on the clock. Maxine Locke's bitch, who is currently going through an 8-race barren spell, should reward the brave-hearted layers.

Commons Bale (T4) appears to tick the right boxes. Successful in each of his last three races at this level, Peter Payne's smart veteran, who has been out of his depth recently, should be more at home at the grade. The son of Carlton Bale, who posted a phenomenal 36:33 when winning a similar event nearly three weeks ago, boasts outstanding claims with a reproduction of that superb effort.

Archers Sapphire (T5) probably needs further nowadays, but did her small army of Betfair fans proud when popping up at huge odds the other day. However, with more to do on this occasion, Paul Young's bitch will need to have vastly improved in the trapping department to hold any chance of following up.

Avon Lad (T6) is expected to be engaged in a titanic battle for early supremacy with Commons Bale (T4) and looks capable of finishing in the mix. However, Dave Mullins' wide seed will need plenty of luck in-running to strike.
