Betfair markets react as the world number one announces that he will return to golf at next month's US Masters...
Tiger Woods' odds to win the US Masters have plummeted to [4.3] after the world number one announced that he will play in the event at Augusta next month.
Woods will have spent nearly five months away from golf when he takes the to tee in Georgia on April 8. He last competed in an Australian tournament on November 15 before a car-crash outside his home led to a series of revelations about his private life.
When he decided to take an indefinite break from golf at the beginning of the year, the odds on Woods winning the Masters drifted to [8.8]. There was also fevered activity in Betfair's Tiger Specials markets, with the price on him winning no majors in 2010 coming in to [1.25].
Golf punters will now wait with baited breath to see if the 14-time Major winner can justify odds of [3.4] to win one major in 2010. For two Tiger triumphs this year you can get [6.2] while the hat-trick trades at [18.0]. For a Grand Slam punters can back Tiger at [34.0].
