Can Kaymer keep his cool to land second win of the season?

It was a changing of the guards at the BMW International as Germany's favourite golfing son Bernhard Langer made way for the young pretender Martin Kaymer.

Kaymer, playing alongside Langer for the first two rounds, has shot clear of the field and leads by five on -13. He was the third of my in-running selections.

I was a tad premature with the first of the three, Gonzalo Fernandez-Castano; he dropped away at a rate of knots once I'd backed him @ an average of [60.0] on Thursday, after he'd reached -4 through eleven holes. Along with the majority of my original picks, he missed the cut.

Secondly, I backed Retief Goosen @ [14.0] halfway through his second round. It didn't look like a bad move when he finished on -6 but that was before Kaymer got going.

I held off for a while on the young German, half expecting a mistake but when he made his sixth birdie of the day on the 11th I steamed in @ an average of [3.5] and layed half my Goosen bet off at [12.0].

I'm not sure I would whole-heartedly advocate a wager on Kaymer now @ around [1.70]. Until he secured his maiden win at Abu Dhabi back in January he'd given up a few winning chances and he's sure to feel the pressure in front of his home crowd so I'll be spending this afternoon with my finger poised over the pink button.

It was far straighter forward across the pond and going to into tonight's third round my two main picks are bang in contention.

The current leader is Stuart Cink on -10 and trading @ [5.5] but despite his obvious talent and high world ranking he has a propensity to fold like a cheap suit when in the mix lately.

Hunter Mahan, backed @ [23.0] is a shot back in second and now trades @ [6.4], while Kenny Perry backed @ [19.0] is in a tie for 8th and currently trades @ [13.0].

I'm not about to start counting chickens though, it's a pretty crowded leaderboard and the winners have been known to come from a country mile back here. Brad Faxon came from seven back on the final day in 2005!

I've also added to my portfolio with Heath Slocum @ [23.0]. He's alongside Perry on -7 and clearly in a rich vein of form following on well from his incredible -6 final round at the US Open.

Lastly, I've backed Brett Rumford @ [200.0], currently on -6. He's a multiple winner in Europe who caught the eye last time out with a tied 24th at the St Jude Classic after a string of missed cuts.

Things look OK at present but there's plenty of time for things to go pear shaped. I'll let you know how the weekend unfolds on Monday.
