The Punter's picks for the European Open and AT & T National

There's not much course form for our golf bettor to go on, so it's a couple of reliable competitors as his leading picks this week

Some weeks I spend hours pawing through years of course form and some weeks, like this one, there's hardly anything to go on.

This week's European Tour event, the European Open, is to be played at a brand new venue, the Heritage course at the London Golf Club in Kent.

The Jack Nicklaus-designed course has been used for the London Senior Masters for the last three years but that form is about as much use as a chocolate fireguard.

Having read up about the course though everything points to a birdie blitz. The tactic this week will be to go low, low, and low again, 20 under might not be enough if the forecast winds don't arrive.

Given it looks a scorers track and that there might be some windy weather my main pick has to be Robert Karlsson @ [17.0]. He's been in sparkling form all summer, his worst result since March being last week's tied 13th when he was suffering with a heavy cold. The run includes top ten finishes at the first two majors, if anyone deserves a W its Robert.

I've also backed a clutch of big priced streaky low scoring types. The one I'm probably most hopeful off is Simon Dyson who's just starting to show some glimpses of form.

Selections:

Robert Karlsson @ [17.0]
Francesco Molinari @ [95.0]
Simon Dyson @ [130.0]
Gonzalo Fernandez-Castano @ [190.0]
Daniel Vancsik @ [260.0]
Simon Wakefield @ [280.0]
Alvaro Quiros @ [300.0]
Marc Warren @ [340.0]

There's not much more evidence to go on at the USPGA event, the AT & T National.
Won last year by the now woefully out of form KJ Choi, it was the first ever staging of this Tiger Woods-hosted event, held at the very demanding Congressional in Maryland.

There's a further small piece of recent course form to ponder as the Congressional was also used for the 2005 Booz Allen Classic, won by Garcia but infamous for the Sabbatini v Crane slow play spat.

It's with the latter that my selections start, Ben Crane has been in reliable form all year and was value @ the [38.0] taken.

Masters winner and recent St. Jude runner up Trevor Immelman was too big to be ignored @ [50.0] and one of last week's picks, Paul Goydos is again backed. He finished tied 13th here at the aforementioned Booz Allen event when he wasn't in anywhere near the form he's been in lately.

My final pick is Sean O'Hair, who finished tied 25th last year.

Selections:

Ben Crane @ [38.0]
Trevor Immelman @ [50.0]
Sean O'Hair @ [80.0]
Paul Goydos @ [80.0]
