Sanders still confident

Seb Sanders, currently leading the way for the jockey's championship, has insisted that the recent spate of suspensions will not damage his chances of lifting the crown.

With 77 winners already this term, Sanders will have to wait until Thursday to add to that tally, before sitting out action again the following Monday.

Sanders, however, remains hot favourite on the Betfair ante-post market to win his first title and currently trades at 1.57 following his tremendous run of form.

"It has probably not come at too bad a time because the last ten days have probably been the quietest spell I have seen," he said.

"Winner and ride-wise, since the beginning of May, and also with wet weather you get a lot of non-runners and the form book gets turned on its head.

"I have had a fantastic start to the season and it looks as if it is going to be the best I have ever had.

"Whether it is going to be good enough to be champion jockey I don't know, but I certainly look on track to beat the best season of my career when I had 165 winners."

Meanwhile, his nearest rival, Jamie Spencer, attracted a bit of support over the weekend and is available to back at 3 on the ante-post market, with champion Ryan Moore at a high of 38.
