Trainer Paul Cole has suggested Strategic Prince may not make the Epsom Derby on Saturday if the ground remains soft.
The three-year-old looked all set to make a bold bid for Classic glory having shaped well in the 2000 Guineas behind Cockney Rebel in May. However, Cole has warned punters that his colt is far from certain to make the line-up for the 1m 4f contest.
"We feel that he isn't at his best on soft ground," the trainer told sportinglife.com.
"When he has worked at home on it he works very ordinarily. We feel he actually needs firm in the going description to be at his very best. At this stage he isn't certain to run at Epsom if they continue to get more rain."
Having traded as low as 11.5 for Saturday's contest, Strategic Prince can now be matched as big as 40 to win the race and has also drifted on Betfair's 'Betting without Authorized' market to 15.5 having been supported at a low of 8.
