Tiger Woods is planning to return to action in early July following the recent birth of his first child, indicating he will take part in the Open Championship.
The world number one became a dad last week following the arrival of his daughter Sam Alexis and had previously indicated that his new born may have a big impact on his schedule.
Woods has now announced that he will host and play in the PGA National event on the US Tour - which is scheduled for July 5-8 at Congressional Country Club.
The 12-time major winner revealed: "I am very excited to announce my commitment to the National. As host, this tournament is very special to me.
"It is extremely special to be hosting an event over the July 4th week and I'm looking forward to a great tournament that raises funds and awareness for the millions of kids my Foundation serves."
His return for that tournament suggests that the 31-year-old will make the trip across the Atlantic for the Open - which starts at Carnoustie on July 19.
The latest news is likely to see Woods cement his place as the firm favourite for the third major of the year. The defending champion is trading at 4.1 to defend his crown, with Els next best at 21.
'None' remains the 1.72 favourite though in the 'Major Wins' market on Betfair's Tiger Specials. 'One' can be backed at 2.82 while 'Two' is on offer at 13.5.
