Tiger Woods and Padraig Harrington had a classic final round showdown at the Bridgestone Invitational but as so often happens, Woods came out on top.
"A virtually flawless final round at last night’s Bridgestone Invitational WGC event which included an eagle, three birdies and no dropped shots on the front nine goes some way to explaining Betfair backers’ desire to get with Woods, as does his third shot on the 16th which is a candidate for shot of the year."
Back-to-back victories for Tiger Woods have led to the world number one's odds being slashed to just 2.86 on Betfair to win the final Major of the year. ...
Matched at a high of 5.8 to win the US PGA a few weeks back amid question marks over his knee and his form after a shock missed cut at The Open, this is now one of the shortest prices Woods has ever traded at to win a tournament.
A virtually flawless final round at last night's Bridgestone Invitational WGC event which included an eagle, three birdies and no dropped shots on the front nine goes some way to explaining Betfair backers' desire to get with Woods, as does his third shot on the 16th which is a candidate for shot of the year.
Woods ended up winning the tournament by four shots, his sixteenth victory in the World Golf Championship Series and 70th overall but save a thought for Padraig Harrington who but for a horrible 8 on the same par 5 16th, matched Woods for most of the final round and proved he is back to something like his best. Harrington traded at a low of [1.6] when leading Tiger by one shot on the 16th tee; Tiger traded at a high of [9.0] when he was way down the leaderboard on Friday.
Either way, faith seems to have been restored in Harrington irrespective of his meltdown and he is now the second favourite at [25.0] to successfully defend his title. It may also be a question of unfinished business for the likeable Irishman who is paired with Woods and 2002 US PGA winner Rich Beem for the first two rounds at Hazeltine National.
Phil Mickelson is next in the overall betting at [27.0], followed by Lee Westwood at [30.0] and another nearly man of golf, Sergio Garcia, who is available at [50.0]. Numerous betting previews and other information relating to the tournament will be available on betting.betfair.com in the build up to Thursday's start.
