One has to wonder whether Harrington will ever again produce the scintillating form that yielded three major titles during a magical 13 month spell. Besides a low-grade Indonesian affair, he hasn't won since the 2008 USPGA, nor registered a top-five on either main tour since last August. In any case, even at his best, the US Open was never Harrington's favourite major. The inaccuracy that has plagued his game in recent years is always going to be costly around these tight, penal layouts.
