Scotland's top-ranked golfer would struggle to be recognised on this side of the Atlantic, but he is rapidly becoming a household name on the PGA Tour. Victory at the prestigious Arnold Palmer Invitational was Laird's second title, and he's registered six top-five finishes since the beginning of last summer's Fedex Cup play-off series. Though Laird missed both cuts previously in this major, he has improved markedly since the last of those attempts at Bethpage Black in 2009.
