Fresh from becoming the first player to win both Volvo and Accenture World Matchplay titles, Poulter is yet another Englishman desperate to cement his place in golfing history by breaking through in a major. He's yet to show any particular aptitude for this test of patience though, failing to register a top-ten in seven US Open attempts to date. Whilst clearly possessing an admirable temperament under pressure, Poulter may be better suited to easier courses where birdie accumulation is the order of the day.
