Johnson backers will probably want to forget last year's US Open, when their man hit a catastrophic final round 82 to blow a three-shot lead. In fairness, given that it was Dustin's first experience of serious contention in a major, that episode should be put down to experience, and he bounced back quickly when again going agonisingly close at the USPGA. Those performances explain why DJ remains many punters' idea of a major winner-in-waiting, although it is hard to see what advantage his extreme power off the tee will offer at Congressional.
