Reverting to a long putter worked wonders for Scott when sharing second place at the Masters, and led many to ponder whether that personal best in a major was a sign of things to come. A failure to follow up in subsequent events on courses where he'd previously won, however, rather dampened that growing optimism. Nobody doubts the ability of this 19-time worldwide winner, but having previously failed to make the top-20, the demands of a US Open don't really appear to be his thing.
