Tiger returned to the winners' circle in fine style at the Arnold Palmer Invitational and has immediately leapt to the head of the Masters betting on Betfair

We have a new Masters favourite and he's unlikely to be supplanted before the tournament begins on Thursday April 5. His name? Tiger Woods.

The golfing legend won the Arnold Palmer Invitational on Sunday to land his first regular PGA Tour event since returning to action after his infamous marriage break-up in late 2009.

And the four-time Masters champion has been a warm order in betting on the 2012 tournament, trading at [5.3] to win, ahead of Rory McIlroy at [7.0]. Tiger has been backed at a high of [18.0] in early trading.

Woods and Mcilroy are well clear of the field with three-time champion Phil Mickelson the nearest challenger ([14.5]). England's Luke Donald, tied fourth last year and recent winner of the Transitions Championship, can be backed at [18.0]. Lee Westwood is fifth favourite at [21.0].

But the market is all about Woods this morning after the former world no.1's dramatic return to the winners' circle, having been tipped up on these pages by Paul Krishnamurty . The 36-year-old appears to be back to his dominating best after triumphing by five shots at Bay Hill, fending off the challenge of runner-up Graeme McDowell and seven shots clear of Ian Poulter in third place. Woods can be backed at [1.96] to finish in the top-five at Augusta.
