The big guns are out for the South African Airways Open, co-sanctioned by the Sunshine Tour and the European Tour (for 2008) and starting on December 13, with US Open Champion Angel Cabrera looking to end the run of 'home' victories.
Golf betting fans looking for bets on the South African contingent will have been rewarded recently as the home stars have landed the odds for the last six years, and all are set to line up again with their odds sure to feature at the top of the market.
Reigning champion Ernie Els, also a winner in 1992, 96 and 98, rewarded supporters with bets last year, with his three-shot victory after a superb final round of -7 in difficult conditions to end a personal 12-month title drought.
Retief Goosen landed many bets in 2006 and is sure to feature prominently in the betting this time around, as are two-time winners Tim Clark, 2002 and January 2005, and Trevor Immelman, 2003 and 2004, who was also runner-up last year.
Those researching their bets will know the last 'away' win came in 2001 through Zimbabwe's Mark McNulty but Cabrera's odds should be worth checking.
The Argentinian upset the odds with his one-stroke victory over Tiger Woods and Jim Furyk at Oakmont and may be one to follow.
Two-time Major winner and former world number one, Greg Norman, is another big name set to tee-off at the Pearl Valley Golf Estate and could provide a nostalgic bet for supporters.
