Odds: [85.0]
Last five Opens: 37/mc/mc/6/26
If the US are to maintain an excellent record at Royal St Georges, Mahan must rate one of their leading candidates. He certainly has the ball-striking skills to thrive at links golf, and finished as top American at Carnoustie four years ago. That makes it hard to explain three failures since in this major, especially considering he's generally improved in that period. Nevertheless after a stack of top-tens this year, it is easy to imagine Mahan in contention over the weekend, especially if the sun shines.
