A couple of swashbuckling victories have made Bubba a rising star across the Atlantic, but the monster-hitting left-hander will arrive at Royal St George's under something of a cloud. Watson made rather a fool of himself with a petulant display after missing the cut at last week's French Open, complaining of homesickness and leaving the impression that he won't be playing many more European events besides this major. A failure to shoot par in either previous Open attempt offers no indication of a liking for links golf, so he could well end up taking another early flight home.
