Is Adam Scott revved up enough to get past Big Phil and Hunter Mahan
"The three-balls are high on quality this week but I don't think Adam Scott ([3.1]) deserves to be such an outsider in his tee time with Phil Mickelson and Hunter Mahan."
The world's best golfers are teeing it up at Doral this week for the WGC Cadillac Championship. Dan Geraghty picks a trio to follow in his regular three ball betting column
One from three last week, but all played well and I'm hopeful of turning a profit at Doral.
A successful tactic is to find a good golfer with a weakness and take him on and I'm trying to get a returning golfer beaten again this week. Paul Casey makes his seasonal debut after separating his shoulder in a snowboarding accident. Casey says he is "tired and rusty" so at the prices I'm happy to give rag Alexander Noren ([3.1]) a chance on his Doral debut. Noren hasn't been seen for a while but has spent his time practising endlessly, including visiting Doral a few weeks ago in preparation. His blog is a good read. Aussie Greg Chalmers makes up the three ball.
The three-balls are high on quality this week but I don't think Adam Scott ([3.1]) deserves to be such an outsider in his tee time with Phil Mickelson and Hunter Mahan. All three have similar form figures at Doral and the Aussie is a different player now he has some confidence with the putter and Steve Williams behind him on the bag. Scott has taken most of the last three months off after a busy end to the year but should have dusted off the cobwebs in his two recent outings. It's a good time of year to hit top gear and I expect Scott to do just that over the next few weeks.
Another stellar line up rounds out this week's bets, but I will take Dustin Johnson [2.6] to beat Jason Day and Charl Schwartzel.
The Masters champion introduced himself to the Americans with a fine performance in defeat when runner up to Ernie Els here in 2010 but still sometimes flatters to deceive in the States. He was 24th here last year while DJ held the 54 hole lead before finishing second. Day has struggled at Doral and has made a slightly disappointing start to his season.
