It may pay to have a "Couple" of quid on Fred this week
"This week’s three will be easy to follow, they will all be playing in the same three ball on the opening two days. Fred Couples isn't joining the Old boys at the Seniors Open this week but he certainly has nothing to fear in this company."
Dan Geraghty picks his three for the week, alerts us to the possible dangers and tells us how everyone's favourite big driver is getting on....
Sean OHair. We aren't getting much change out of the price but Sean has some good form in Canada and more importantly during the past month (including at last week's Open) he has really caught the eye. It can't be long before he's fighting out a finish.
Mike Weir has yet to win his native Open but has come very close. I've a feeling this new short, sharp course will suit him and Weir's form during the past couple of years has deserved a victory. Winning this week would be sweeter than most for Mike.
This week's three will be easy to follow, they will all be playing in the same three ball on the opening two days. Fred Couples isn't joining the Old boys at the Seniors Open this week but he certainly has nothing to fear in this company. Couples was second in the Canadian Open way back in 1993 and few would be suprised to see him go one better here.
Dangers: Retief Goosen was under strong consideration after a good week in Scotland. His putting was superb desppite his unconventional set up with the long flatstick. After a course record 62 last week, I was a little tempted by the Punter's favourite son Graham De Laet in his home country. However, my hands are tied after my self-imposed "no Reno players" rule. Another of last week's Reno 'stars' Stuart Appleby could go well now that his last chance in the main column has been and gone... and I have a sneaky feeling Bryce Molder will be on the premises this week, keep an eye out.
Bubba Watch: Bubba narrowly missed the cut at St Andrews but judging by his interviews, the big man seemed to be having the time of his life, even finding time for a picnic with his caddy during the weather delay. It's a well deserved week off this week.
Selections: Sean OHair [19.5], Mike Weir [55], Fred Couples [75]

I apologise.

Happens to us all Dan. Your reasoning behind your selections were fine, the players just had an off week. I haven't come remotely close to a winner since the US Open. Chin up and move on to next week.
