Trevor Immelman is coming back to form
"Trevor Immelman has had a torrid time since his wonderful Masters victory. The South African has struggled with injuries and form but he's looked much better of late and for a brief moment looked like he might charge to the top of the leaderboard during the final round last week."
Dan Geraghty is going for two players with promise and a Major winner on his way back to top form at this week's PGA Tour event
Well, last week was a bit of a disaster, for the first time in the history of Three Against the Field, all three selections both played together and missed the cut together. So, this week my bouncebackability will be thoroughly scrutinised and I have my work cut out as it's a new tournament on the schedule and there's little to no course form to help.
Kevin Na took a couple of weeks off just before the Open Championship and his performances over the last two weeks suggest that he is showing the benefit of that rest period. I followed Na's rounds closely last week and the amount of irons he hit inside 10 foot was mighty impressive. He also scrambled excellently from some dubious positions and if the American can drive the ball straighter this week the world is his oyster.
Brandt Snedeker has certainly been inconsistent of late, but the signs are there that his game is in good shape and during the past two months he's put in some solid top 20 finishes. Snedeker has the best putts per round stats on tour this season and like Na he's surely getting close to a big week.
Trevor Immelman has had a torrid time since his wonderful Masters victory. The South African has struggled with injuries and form but he's looked much better of late and for a brief moment looked like he might charge to the top of the leaderboard during the final round last week. Perhaps Immelman has been inspired by Oosthuizen's Major victory, he's certainly playing the best golf he has for a long while and considering what he's capable of, his price looks a little big in this field.
Dangers: Last week's winner Carl Petterson has an early tee time on Thursday and there's no reason why the America-loving Swede can't keep his form rolling. In my opinion, Ricky Barnes will never win a 'big' tournament, let alone a Major. However, Barnes' form this year and last has arguably shown that he is capable of getting a win on the PGA Tour and his recent performances deserve a win.
Bubba Watch: All quiet on the Watson front once more as Bubba keeps his PGA tour fans waiting. He'll be back next week. In the meantime the big man has been being filmed for a PGA Tour show. Here's a still from the shoot... http://twitpic.com/28y5fh
Selections: Kevin Na [55], Brandt Snedeker [75], Trevor Immelman [46]
