"Rory McIlroy [38.0] has managed his year well and appears to still be fresh and eager to compete."
Daniel Geraghty is incredulous at the odds available on China's best golfer. Meanwhile, a Japanese superstar and certain young Irishman arrive in Asia in good form.
Liang Wen Chong's price of [130.00] is an insult. Liang has struggled this year on the European tour but there have been good results and all of them have come in Asia.
This week Liang has Tiger Woods and an influx of foreign stars to compete with but last week in Singapore Liang came up against (and beat) Phil Mickelson, Ernie Els and a number of big names. He finished 24th in this event last year, which was his best finish here in four attempts and I believe last week's performance can inspire Liang to improve again.
Ryo Ishikawa is already a superstar, he won his first tournament on the Japanese tour aged just 15 and has already won an incredible four tournaments on the Japanese tour this season. Ishikawa is still just 18 years of age and this year experienced the PGA tour for the first time and impressed many by making the cut at the Transitions Championship.
This year he also made the cut at the PGA Championship, his first appearance at the Major and has become the youngest golfer ever to reach the top 50 of the Official World Golf Rankings. Perhaps playing in Asia in one of the last events of the season will give Ryo his best chance yet to compete with some of the World's established stars.
Rory McIlroy has managed his year well and appears to still be fresh and eager to compete. At last week's Matchplay McIlroy was caught a little cold and after losing his opening match five down to Angel Cabrera, Rory can count himself unlucky to go out after beating both Simon Dyson and Henrik Stenson and he comes into this week in good form. I reccomend backing all three selections in the top 10 market as well as outright.
Selections:
Outright Winner: Wen Chong Liang [130.00], Ryo Ishikawa [100.00], Rory McIlroy [38.0]
Top 10 Finish: Wen Chong Liang [7.8], Ryo Ishikawa [6.2], Rory McIlroy [3.7]
