D.J Trahan has the right type of temperament to win a Pro-Am
"Playing rounds lasting over six hours alongside celebrities is not everyone's cup of tea, and it takes a certain type of person to not be distracted. There's no worries on that score with Trahan..."
With the withdrawl of Michael Allen, Paul Krishnamurty went in search of his replacement 100/1 plus shot and he came up with D.J Trahan...
D.J. Trahan has won a tournament every two years since 2004; the first on the Nationwide Tour, followed by PGA Tour successes in 2006 and 2008; and there have been hints in recent performances that he is capable of keeping that sequence going in 2010.
Over the last three months, only four players amongst this line-up have hit a higher percentage of greens in regulation than Trahan. That is usually the key stat to follow at Pebble Beach, where long game accuracy is essential to hold smaller than average greens. It's always tended to be Trahan's strength, so its no surprise to see that he finished 6th last year.
A further reason to think that [110.0] chance Trahan can be hopeful this week is the pro-am format, as many players never seem to get the hang of these events. Playing rounds lasting over six hours alongside celebrities is not everyone's cup of tea, and it takes a certain type of person to not be distracted. There's no worries on that score with Trahan, as his most recent PGA Tour victory came in another multi-course pro-am, the Bob Hope Classic, and his best finish so far in 2010 came when seventh in the same event.
