"Lawrie's record in the Spanish Open over recent years is first-class, winning in 2008, finishing third when trying to defend that title this year, and reaching that same position back in 2005."
This Irishman loves his Spanish golf so what on earth is he doing trading at [140.0], asks Paul Krishnamurty...
Considering his career record in Spain, plus the fact that he finished second only three starts ago at the KLM Open, [140.0] about Peter Lawrie in this week's Madrid Masters seems an absolutely huge price.
Lawrie's record in the Spanish Open over recent years is first-class, winning in 2008, finishing third when trying to defend that title this year, and reaching that same position back in 2005. He's also previously made the top-five in the Mallorca Classic, and prospered in other Mediterranean events. Clearly this Irishman enjoys golf in this part of the world.
He also finished a respectable 20th on his only visit to this week's venue, and should enjoy the emphasis on birdies in an event expected to produce low scoring. Lawrie rates in the top-10 for 'birdie average' on the European Tour over the past three months.
