"Only a few weeks back, the 45 year-old Goydos was bang in contention right up to the closing holes against elite opposition in the Barclays Classic, so there's plenty to suggest he can cope with this week's much more limited field."

Tee-to-green accuracy and a deadly short game make Goydos worth a tickle at odds of 120 in the Frys.com Open, says Paul Krishnamurty

Even though the selection from this column never got in a serious blow, hopefully some punters will have taken the hint about last week's [150.0] winner Martin Laird after he was earmarked as one of 'Five to follow during the Fall Series'.

There's three more legs remaining in that series, but the next event presents a slightly different sort of test. Whereas Summerlin presented its usual birdie-fest, the venue for this week's Frys.com Open is much tougher. Rather than simply target golf, the name of the game at Grayhawk GC is tee to green accuracy and a high-class short game, around a course that can get very tough if the wind gets up.

Last year, Paul Goydos gave this column a good run for our money in triple-figures, finishing seventh, and I reckon he's worth backing again at [120.0]. Most of Goydos' best form has come on tracks with these characteristics. In 2007, he won the Sony Open at the windy, narrow Hawaiian venue of Waialae. His best effort of 2008 came when losing a play-off to Sergio Garcia at Sawgrass.

2009 hasn't been a bad year either, with four top-10s in his last 12 starts; including three top-4 finishes.

Only a few weeks back, the 45 year-old Californian was bang in contention right up to the closing holes against elite opposition in the Barclays Classic, so there's plenty to suggest he can cope with this week's much more limited field.
