This week's 100 hopeful was a winner last month and Paul Krishnamurty is backing him for more glory.
Its not often that we can back a player who has won in the last month at [150.00], even more so when that player is set to enjoy strong home support in conditions he'll know better than most. That's the case with Michael Hoey this week though, who won his penultimate start, the Estoril Open.
Perhaps these odds would make sense if that win had come out of nowhere, but that certainly isn't the case. Hoey was widely tipped to make an impact on this year's European Tour schedule, and four of his last nine starts have produced top-12 finishes. Besides that win in Portugal, Hoey was runner-up to Retief Goosen in the African Open, and only just missed the places in the Madeira Island Open.
Furthermore, this week's Irish Open has much in common with the Portugese venue where Hoey won last month in so far as it is a links course. British and Irish players with much more experience of links golf are bound to be at an advantage this week, especially if the weather turns nasty.
