"This looks the perfect opportunity for a series of decent-priced, promising players who are still looking for their first title on the main tour, to add to previous successes on the lower-level Challenge Tour. Richie Ramsay and Michael Lorenzo-Vera both took the eye, but pick of the bunch could be 31 year-old Englishman Lee Slattery at [140.0]."

Paul Krishnamurty continues the search for another three-figure winner, this week at the Austrian Open

This week's line up for the Austrian Open is arguably the weakest seen for a front-line European Tour event this season. That weakness is most clearly illustrated by the fact that the single-figured priced favourite, Soren Hansen, has only won twice this century.

It looks the perfect opportunity for a series of decent-priced, promising players who are still looking for their first title on the main tour, to add to previous successes on the lower-level Challenge Tour. Richie Ramsay and Michael Lorenzo-Vera both took the eye, but pick of the bunch could be 31 year-old Englishman Lee Slattery at [140.0].

Slattery topped the Challenge Tour rankings back in 2004, after a run that included a 2nd place finish in this event. (Back then, the Austrian Open had not been promoted to the main tour). In the last two years, he's performed moderately well at Fontana, finishing 33rd and 25th. Recent form is fair too, as Slattery finished 4th at August's SAS Masters and 11th the following week in the Czech Republic.
