Good course form and strong recent form are combined in 33-year-old Rollins who is currently available at [130.0].
Writing this column is always more enjoyable whenever Tiger Woods is in the field, simply because there are so many more players to choose from. Most weeks, its hard to find anyone with strong recent form credentials available in three figures, but Woods' presence inevitably pushes out the prices of everyone else. As I've written elsewhere, I actually fancy Tiger to win at Bay Hill this week. However, with several of his obvious rivals in this field badly out of form, if the favourite gets turned over, it could well be at the hands of an outsider.
The best value in my view lies with John Rollins at [130.0]. Here, we are talking about a player who has twice finished runner-up in his last five starts, both in prestigious PGA Tour events. Rollins finished second to Yon Eun Yang at the recent Honda Classic, and also second to Nick Watney at the Buick Invitational last month, performing with great credit on the final day both times. The latter was at the notorious Torrey Pines, proving Rollins isn't the type of player to go missing on tough courses. Bay Hill is very different in many ways, but will similarly present a very tough examination of players' long games.
It must also bode extremely well that Rollins has some top-notch course form, finishing fifth at Bay Hill two years ago. Combined with that recent form, it all adds up to a decent chance; and one that certainly doesn't warrant this week's massive odds.
