Chad Collins is enjoying an impressive rookie season
"Collins [150.00] has already enjoyed a fair amount of success in his rookie season, registering three early top-10 finishes, and contending strongly on a couple of occasions."
Paul Krishnamurty weighs up the chances of a scrambling man at long odds for this weekend's Canada Open...
With the venue for this week's Canadian Open, St George's GCC, hosting its first event since the 1960s, there is a large element of guesswork involved in calculating which players will be best suited. What we do know is that there are, unusually, five par-3s, and that the positioning of the greenside bunkers are expected to place a heavy premium on scrambling.
It stands to reason, therefore, that the par-3 performance and scrambling stats could be more important than usual. Amongst this line-up, [150.00] chance Chad Collins ranks second in the former, and first in the latter category.
Collins has already enjoyed a fair amount of success in his rookie season, registering three early top-10 finishes, and contending strongly on a couple of occasions. He went off the boil a bit afterwards, but two top-25s on his last four starts suggest he's creeping back into form. Previously, he won twice on the Nationwide Tour so hopefully he won't be too fazed by the pressure should a winning opportunity present itself.
