"Lara excels in one department - his iron play - which also happens to be by far the most important attribute at this week's venue, Hong Kong GC."
Hong Kong history can repeat itself, says Paul Krishnamurty, as Lara chases a place in Dubai
It's the penultimate week of the Race to Dubai, which means last-chance saloon for players outside the top-60 trying to get into the megabucks Dubai World Championship. Nothing less than second place will be enough for the likes of Jose-Manuel Lara, currently languishing in 81st place, but the Spaniard should retain some optimism on this return to the scene of his finest hour. Almost five years ago to the day, Lara led all the way to land his maiden Euro Tour title at the Hong Kong Open, and there's no reason to think he's any less of a player now.
Indeed, Lara's record over the past eight years paints a pretty consistent picture, finishing inside the top-100 of the money list every year, with that lucrative victory propelling him to a best ever 30th place in 2006. His stroke average also rarely deviated throughout those years, with 2011 his third best ever season in that regard. Basically, Lara excels in one department - his iron play - which also happens to be by far the most important attribute at this week's venue, Hong Kong GC. Further encouragement comes from eighth place on his latest start in the 54-hole Johor Open. Who knows, had that tournament gone the full distance, his task for reaching Dubai might have been considerably easier.
The trading advice is to back Lara at [130.0], then place two lay orders at [12.0], then [3.0]. Should he hit the first target, we'll make five times our initial outlay.
