Branden Grace is an up and coming talent who usually performs in his homeland
"It would be impossible to make a case for Grace on the basis of form in Europe, but its a totally different story in his homeland. Prior to last week's missed cut, Grace had made the top-10 in his last six starts in South Africa, including 5th in an event at the start of November."
Forget the European Tour efforts and focus on home form if backing this week's three-figure offering, says Paul Krishnamurty
The South African Open has been dominated by players from Southern Africa so far this century, but with the four biggest names all missing this time, the home contingent look less powerful than usual. If we are to see the tenth consecutive African winner, then there aren't many more likely candidates than [150.0] chance Branden Grace.
It would be impossible to make a case for him on the basis of form in Europe, but its a totally different story in his homeland. Prior to last week's missed cut, Grace had made the top-10 in his last six starts in South Africa, including 5th in an event at the start of November. He was only beaten by two shots in 6th place here last year.
As Grace is still only 21, he obviously has considerable potential to improve, so we'll probably see a lot more of him in Europe over the years ahead. A breakthrough in this Race to Dubai event would dramatically raise his profile.
