Can Josh Teater steer a course to FedEx qualification?
"While none of them have any real pedigree for closing out tournaments, they are more than capable of playing a hand in the finish and rewarding our trading strategy. In any case, remember last year's unfathomable winner, Arjun Atwal?"
With the lucrative FedEx Cup beginning next week three of the PGA Tour's second division have attracted Paul Krishnamurty's punting eye ahead of the Wyndham Championship
With the majors out of the way, the PGA Tour focus now shifts towards the looming Fedex Cup play-off series. This week's Wyndham Championship is the last event in which to secure a place in the top-125 of the Fedex Cup standings, and make next week's line-up at The Barclays. All three of my picks are in the thick of that battle, and therefore likelier to be well-prepared and motivated. Furthermore, all should be well-suited to the demands of this annual birdie-fest at Sedgefield Country Club.
Firstly, Josh Teater has already upped his efforts and is almost certainly secure for the play-offs in 117th place. Two of his last three results were top-15 finishes, and he was bang in contention with a round to go in Reno last time out. Last year's first visit to Sedgefield was promising, finishing 18th with no round worse than 68.
Garrett Willis, currently placed 144th, has an excellent career record at Sedgefield. He was runner-up when this course hosted a Nationwide Tour event way back in 1999, and has reached the top-15 in the last two years. He too appears to have found some improved form at this critical stage of the season, registering top-25s in his last two events. Notably Willis, otherwise known for his accuracy, has found some form with the putter for those recent efforts.
Finally, Michael Letzig belatedly found some form at this stage of last season to make the Barclays line-up, and from 193rd place on the Fedex Cup list needs another miracle. He can at least draw comfort from a much improved tenth last time out, and a pair of top-20s at Sedgefield. At his best, Letzig is ideally suited to low-scoring target golf, so this easiest layout of the season may also be his most suitable.
All the above trio are trading around the [150.0] mark, and while none of them have any real pedigree for closing out tournaments, they are more than capable of playing a hand in the finish and rewarding our trading strategy. In any case, remember last year's unfathomable winner, Arjun Atwal?
The advice listed below is to place lay orders at [10.0] and [3.0] on each player, ensuring a profit if any target is hit.
